FIXING WATER LINE in Dover NH

After digging down to replace the sewer line, more than 11 feet, the clients changed their minds about replacing it along with the sewer line (directly below it).

PROBLEM #1:

Because of all the weight and root system of a massive tree, debris, sharp rocks, asphalt… around the sewer lines the sewer was ruptured, compressed (with very little flow), and was backing up into the house. we needed to replace it ASAP!

PROBLEM #2:

Because of the shear size, root system, the town wanted it removed!!

The home wanted to save the tree their grand parents ad planted more than 60 years ago!

(Just the thought of it had had brought them to tears)

SOLUTION:

Replace the sewer line & re-route it around the root system maintaining the pitch for drainage to the street tie it.

GOING ABOVE and BEYOND for Clients:

Because we knew it was a matter of time before the water line would suffer the same fate as the sewer line (compression & rupture) as the tree continued to grow…

While the hole was open, we wanted to save the clients’ money in the future, we took the extra time to put in a new water line for the homeowners!

  • Properly installed in a different area (away from the root system)
  • Installed correctly in a bed of sand, well below the frost line
  • Stubbed up (sleeved for protection) at the entrance to the house & at the curb box
  • We even replace the curb box

PHOTOS:

While the hole was open we replaced the curb box and sleeved for protection with SDR pipe! The Curb box (which is where the shut off is from the street).

The water line was brought to the house for an install later

  • Set in a 18”+ bed of sand
  • Stubbed up (sleeved for protection) at the entrance to the house
  • Well below the frost line marked in orange (see pic)
